SNACK Internship Alumni Stay Involved Even after Graduation

We like to think that SNACK has a strong impact on Linfield students both during and after the time they spend serving as interns. Our services are almost 100% run by our Linfield College interns and students, and we would not be able to provide our services without them! We hope that after they leave us, that we are as memorable to them as they are to us.

Kendra McSheridan ('17, right) is our current AmeriCorps VISTA member.

We stay in touch with many of our interns after they graduate. Kendra McSheridan (‘17, shown at left in the pea costume) was hired as our AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteer In Service To America) shortly after graduating. We are grateful for her continued dedication to the program and passion for helping Yamhill County families.

Matt Richard (‘17, third from left below) tells us SNACK was a truly rewarding experience and reflects on his time with SNACK in a very positive light. On our overnight trip to Mazama Lodge at Mount Hood last summer, Matt was a chaperone for the group and mentor to two boys on the trip.

At the conclusion of the trip Matt said, “When I asked the boys if they would be interested in more hikes and trips like this in the future, they asked if I would be coming as well. That to me was one of the many moments I was so grateful to be a part of such an impactful program like SNACK.” Clearly, we are not the only ones who loved having Matt in our program!

We love that we are able to stay connected with some of our past interns even after they finish serving in the program. Lauren Seki (‘17, below, front right) is another intern alumni who we are very grateful to still have contact with. Lauren said, “My experience as a SNACK intern was irreplaceable! All of the programs and events that I took part in brought me immense joy and excitement to be able to share my love of exercise and healthy eating habits with my community. Yamhill County is very lucky to have this wonderful program which encourages students from Linfield College to apply their knowledge learned in the classroom to build relationships within their community.”

Lauren Seki ('17, front right) helped SNACK pilot an after school physical activity program in Dayton as part of her internship.

SNACK interns get the unique opportunity to help local youth achieve a healthier, happier lifestyle. Through this, SNACK gives people a chance to develop impactful, long-lasting relationships that are not easily forgotten.
